Welcome to the new Kevin Brown Racing website! Please use the above navigation bar to move around. I've posted my current racing schedule as well as photos from the SCCA Driver's School.
For those of you that don't know me, I live in the Baltimore, MD area, and I am a member of the Washington, D.C. region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). I drive a 1985 Mazda RX-7 GS in the Spec RX-7 (SRX7) class of the SCCA's Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Series (MARRS). The SRX7 class is made up of 1981-85 RX-7s, with modifications limited to very specific performance and safety alterations. This philosophy makes SRX7 one of the least expensive and most enjoyable regional classes within the SCCA.
This year, I will be racing primarily at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia. Race weekends at the Point are very enjoyable. You'll get to see some of the area's finest drivers compete in classes ranging from Showroom Stock (street cars with small modifications for racing) to purpose-built Formula Atlantic. Qualifying sessions start early Saturday morning and continue throughout the day. When nightfall arrives, pitch a tent and settle in for the evening - camping is allowed at Summit Point! If you're not the outdoors type, there are plenty of motels and B&Bs nearby. Sunday is the big day, filled with 35-minute sprint races. Come for the Double MARRS race on Labor Day and you'll get a third day of racing action! Entrance at the gate is normally $15/person, but if you'd like to participate, you can join my crew team and earn free admission. If you'd like to get REALLY close to the action, ask me about working a flag station or other race specialty!
